Tools for the Dyslexic:Learning to Navigate Through a Non-Dyslexic World When You View the World Completely Differently

Personally, I believe teachers will sometimes overlook dyslexia because it takes more energy out of their class schedules to help a student learn. This is because dyslexics learn completely differently from other children. The frustration of it runs rampant through these groups. You want to be checking for the correct spelling of words, proper grammar, and of course, the correct agreement for pronouns and verbs. That way you can clearly read everything an individual has written you and you can clearly write that individual back checking it and triple checking it to make sure your verb agreements and pronoun usage is correct.


Taking Standardized Tests

If you are a visual person, you should look at a map on Google Earth to get an idea of where you are going before you start driving. Also, looking at a map before you venture out will also prove to be useful and even more helpful is a GPS unit to read directions to you as you drive. You will constantly need to adjust your life to living with dyslexia, and will constantly need to analyze your life to figure out where you are having dyslexic moments. I also find that using driving directions printed from MapQuest can be equally as difficult because of the way I look at maps and at the roads. As technologies and times change, so will your views of the world and how you interact with the world around you.
