You have to keep thinking that this is part of your life and you have to make it go, as you would like. You should work at it to keep the peace between you and the spouse that you are separating from. You should also want to keep the peace in the rest of the family as well.

Name-calling is never a good idea; during a divorce name-calling can only cause more problems than you already have. Stress levels are going to be high, childish acts such as name-calling do nothing but frustrate everyone involved. Keep calm and work at getting through the situation at hand.

There is no reason to ever try to start trouble with your ex. You should always remain civil towards one another. Keep your inner strength and do not bow to temptations to fight with your ex. You need to keep a cool, level head and remember that your divorce will go smoother if you can discuss things with your ex spouse in a calm manner.

Getting your point across in a calm, friendly manner is always best. Shouting doesn't help anything and will make dealing with each other difficult. If you have children you will always have this person in your life, you don't want to have to argue forever. Instead it is important to find a way to communicate with each other without getting either of you upset.

When children are involved it is important to be extra good. You don't want to say anything in front of the kids that may hurt them emotionally. Protecting the kids from the pain that your divorce can cause and keeping them from being torn apart by constant fighting between their parents should be your first priority.

Make sure that you are communicating with your ex. You need to make sure that you are sitting down and discussing what is going on in the divorce. If you have lawyers, you should make sure that they are present as well. It is always good to be fair in a divorce, but you do not want to settle for anything less that what you deserve.

Your divorce isn't about getting revenge or being bitter over the past. Your divorce is putting a chapter of your life to a close, one that didn't turn out as you had hoped it would when you started is. You need to be getting on with the next chapter of your life and making a new start. Keeping peace throughout the divorce will help it to go by quickly and as painless as it possibly can.
