Bathroom Remodel: Considering Different Shower Options

By:

Although your bathroom may be one of the smallest rooms in the house, it is a room you spend a good deal of time in. So it seems like it's often the bathroom's blemishes that get noticed the most. If your bathroom is cracked and peeling or just old and outdated, maybe it's time for you to get rid of the old bathroom and bring in a new one.

One of the main features of the bathroom is the shower. You spend just about every day in that space, so why not take the time and money to turn it into the best experience possible. If you're stuck with a bathtub/shower combination, maybe it's time to make room for a little separation. There are many different types of showers. Finding a shower that is best for you will take a little time and research. Here are a few options.

One common style of shower is a walk-in shower. The wonderful thing about a walk-in shower is that it can be built to just about any specification. Since it is not attached to a tub, you can make the shower fit anywhere. Whether you want a square walk-in shower or a round one, a corner shower, or maybe even a shower that occupies its own room, a contractor specializing in bathroom remodels can make it work. Walk-in showers can also accommodate multiple shower heads as well as shower seating. Another feature of a walk-in shower is a floor can be flush or the same as the existing bathroom floor, which adds character.

Another type of shower is a pre-fabricated shower. Unlike a walk-in shower that can be built to specifications, a pre-fab shower is manufactured in a factory to be pre-made and easy to install. For a bathroom remodel on a budget, pre-fab showers can be a good option. Although pre-fab showers aren't as customizable, there are a wide variety of options to choose from.

A steam shower is another type of shower to consider. Although shaped like a traditional shower enclosure, a steam shower includes a steam generator to produce steam vapor, which can be very relaxing and enjoyable. However, steam showers must be built with special self-contained enclosures to prohibit escaping steam which can damage walls and flooring. If you're considering a bathroom remodel, consider treating yourself to a new shower but make sure to do you research and find the best style of shower for you.
