Bath Tea

Bath Tea

One of several best ways to turn a normal bath into a special and luxurious soak is to add fragrant and health-giving dried herbs, flowers, fruits and spices. Don't worry, you won't have to become an expert herbalist.

And you won't have to become a plumber to maintain your bathtub drain free from clogs of rose petals and mint.

First you need to gather the bath tea ingredients. Select your favorites or try something new if you're feeling adventurous. Classic choices include rose petals (moisturizing), mint (invigorating) or chamomile (soothing). For something different, try cloves (increases circulation), lavender (healing) grapefruit peel (refreshing).

Muslin or cheese cloth work well and are affordable. Just place a small handful of your tea mix into the center of the fabric, fold up every one of the ends, and secure with string or rubber rings. You can use a pretty ribbon for visual appeal but make sure it does not have dyes.

If you have a variety of tea accessories handy, you can use a tea ball or bamboo tea basket instead. Now decide if you wish to let your bath tea soak in the tub with you or if you would rather steep it in a bowl of hot water and add the liquid tea to your bath.

If the mixture you chose is not as aromatic as you like, add a tiny drop of essential oil to your bath for aromatherapy. Now, just sit back, relax and soak it all in.
