To experience the true heritage of Dubai, visit the Bastakiya Quarter in Bur Dubai. Amidst the cosmopolitan nature of this upscale town, this tiny quarter depicts traditionalism and makes one of the most engaging neighbourhoods in the city. The city was built by Persian merchants in the 19th century who were attracted to this place due to its relaxed trade tariffs. The white Mosque is also in the vicinity, made with a combination of grand gypsum coral and lime stones that make these buildings unique, spectacular and really worth admiring. The Bastakiya Quarter is also home to the Old City Wall built in1800, and a plethora of art galleries that exhibits works from Iranian, Emirati and Middle Eastern work of art. A perfect end to a fulfilled day at the quarter would be at the Basta Art Caf. Taste the Basta special, a refreshing mint and lime drink that would give you a fantastic jolt after a perfect day touring this quarter.
