Basic Information About Sharepoint Workflow Wtih Benefits

Microsoft SharePoint Workflow is one Microsoft technologies in which business documents are automatically moved through sequence of business process to manage and complete business project task.

There are two types of SharePoint Workflow which are 1) Sequential workflow and 2) State machine workflow. In Sequential workflow means series of the step performed step by step until the particular process completed. In this type of workflow process must be run in sequential manner. While in State Machine workflow represent set of states, transitions, and actions and in this workflow its not necessary to perform step by step its one type of asynchronous workflow.

  • Also you must turn some list or library features which are not turned on by default like content approval before your SharePoint workflow design. So you can easily use this features with your workflow


You can find this workflow features on Microsoft Windows Workflow Foundation which is components of Microsoft Windows. And this feature must be installed on your computer as well as on your SharePoint Application Server.

If you want to add workflow within your website then your must be added within to list or SharePoint library or in specific location in your SharePoint application server. This operation can be performed by site administrator or individual who manage specific list or libraries

Basic Step to Add WorkFlow in Your SharePoint Website

  • You can directly add your workflow to particular list or library. But remember this workflow is available to only this list or library.

  • You can add your workflow to a list content type in specific list or library. But this content type must be associated with particular list or library

  • You can add workflow directly to site content type. Once you added then its available for any SharePoint item of that content type. But if you want to add workflow which is available to any list or libraries of your website collection then you directly add this workflow to site content type.
