Sitting majestically on a plateau, Barcelona is without doubt one of the most well-known towns in Spain. It is situated on the northeast coast of the Iberian Peninsula just looking towards the Mediterranean Sea. It is a city that is full of sights and sounds, including world renowned arts and architecture, fantastic cuisines, great shopping places and lively nightlife. The capital also offers beautiful sandy beaches where visitor can unwind and enjoy the peaceful beauty of the ocean.

One of many the world-renowned live music venues and theatres such as, the Gran Teatre del Liceu opera theatre, the Teatre Lliure, the Palau de la Msica Catalana concert hall and the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, can be found in Barcelona. This is also home to the largest symphony orchestra, the National Symphonic Orchestra, which holds two major pop songs festivals each year called the Sound Festival and the Sonar Festival. The alternative music scene is also flourishing in Barcelona with great musical geniuses such as The Pinker Tones.

You will find fantastically wonderful places for tourists to visit in Barcelona like the Sagrada Familia, an 1882 old cathedral that is incredibly huge, The Parc Guell, a recreation area with significant attractions throughout the year that was declared as UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Camp Nou which is an attractive arena and home to the top football teams on the planet, the Picasso Museum where the whole shebang of the late and famous Pablo Picasso are exhibits, and the large stretch street La Ramba where you can stroll to see a lot of dining places and shops. If you're a lover of ships, you have to go to the marina and marvel the magnificent yachts lined up.

Climate: Barcelona has moderate and hot winters and very dry summers. The city experiences rain storms especially in the month of August. The month of June is cold due to infrequent rainy weathers such as April and May as well. Down pours are experienced continuously through November while the driest seasons occur from February through July. Today, the climate in Barcelona actually differs tremendously year after year that has become a major concern for many residents. The coldest months are experienced from December to February.

Transportation: Barcelona citizens and tourists can access a comprehensive public transport network that includes a metro, a bus, and a tram network. The Barcelona Metro has nine lines that connect with other cities outside Barcelona. It is well known for its open-topped two decked buses and a night bus network called NitBus. Cars and taxis are also plentiful in Barcelona, cables cars and bicycle services which are valuable public transports.
