Baptism Favors That You Will Simply Love

Baptism is for many parents the most important time for their children, the time when all friends and relatives gather for the religious ceremony that brings the child into the church. It is a day celebrated as much as a wedding and involves all parties arriving in their best clothes, often bringing gifts for the child or person being baptised.

Although the baptised receives gifts often so do the guests in the form of baptism favours. The baptism favours are given as small reminders of the day to the guests, also a small thank you from the child's god parents for attending the special day. The baptism favours are by tradition given out by the Childs god mother or god father these types of gifts are also given at weddings and are like a grown up version of the treat bag often given at the end of a children's birthday party.

The gifts are traditionally handed out by the Childs new god parents; this doesn't always mean they have to fund the gift though. The gifts can be bought by anyone and can be of any value. It's wise to keep everyone friendly by making the gifts the same unless there are specific people you think should get more.

The god parents may be ok to give bigger gifts to but no one else really unless there is a specific reason such as fulfilling a role on the day or perhaps donating something for the day.

The gifts can be something basic given in a simple package or box. Something you could decorate and fill yourself perhaps. The filling could be something simple such as sweets or chocolates or could be as complicated as funds allow. Maybe include a printed card with the events date on it or include it on the package so the day can be remembered.

If you have the funds you could purchase glass or even silver dummies with room for engraving of the ceremonies time and date. You could also consider a scroll or plaque with the same sort of information on it. If this is too much for everyone to receive then it could what you decide to give the god parents as a special gift.

As with everything these days you get what you pay for, this applies to these favours as well. You can stick to sweets or chocolate or move up through numerous other things. More affluent god parents can by silver or glass ornaments to give out, maybe engraved with the date of the ceremony. Maybe buy a scroll in a case thanking them for their attendance or maybe a framed picture of the child in their baptism costume.

There is no hard and fast rule saying you have to buy a favour or saying what these favours have to be. Don't spend money you haven't got and don't create debt to keep with the tradition. Also remember if you really want to give something then a very small item shows as much thought as a larger one.

The day is to celebrate the baptism after all and anything else is extra. The presents are something to be considered on top and only if really needed to augment the day. They will be well received but won't be expected by anyone.
