Band Hire For A Wedding And What You Should Know

By:

When you hire a band for a wedding there are a few things you should always be aware of. For example the best place to start your search for cover bands, wedding bands, party bands or tribute bands is from an entertainment agency. There are wedding entertainment agencies out there that specifically cater towards this kind of thing and will prove very helpful.

After you have found the band you want to hire from an entertainment agency, before securing the booking there are a few things you will need to check.
When you hire wedding music of any kind you will need to make sure that the venue has enough space for them to perform in. If there is only a very small area then band hire of a 10 piece live music band will probably not be appropriate or work very well.

You also need to make sure that the venue has the correct power requirements and licenses for a cover band to perform entertainment for a wedding. This is normally just standard power and a venue will more often than not have all the entertainment licences in place. But, it is always worth checking just to be sure.
If you are hiring additional entertainment for a wedding such as a fire performer, mariachi band, caricaturist or magician it may be the case that the venue will need more information. For example, they may need risk assessments and public liability insurance. Again, these may also be required for the band hire too, so, it is something that should be checked out.

Many bands will also be interested in how straightforward the unload and set-up will be. For example, will the wedding band you have hired be able to unload close to the performance area? After all, their equipment is heavy and so it is very helpful if they can.

The only other thing that you should take into account is the looking after of your party bands, cover bands or tribute bands. They may have travelled a long way to perform at your wedding, and whilst you normally only see the final performance, there is a lot of work surrounding this Travel, setting up, sound checking, etc. And, then after the performance there is the breakings down, re-loading, travel home, unloading at the other end.... so, it is a long day for wedding bands. It is therefore seen as a very nice gesture to ensure that the band is looked after whilst on site (at the venue). If you can ensure that they are fed and watered at the appropriate times it will make sure that they are always feeling at their best, which in turn will then show in their performance.

Live music bands are only human and whilst they will always do everything they can to make sure that your day is perfect there are a couple of things (as mentioned) that will help make their (and your) job easier and allow them to concentrate on doing what you hired a band for... to blow your guests away and celebrate your wedding in style!
