Ball Of Foot Pain Arch Supports

Ball of foot pain is a very common foot problem. However, most off the shelf or over the counter arch supports do not include anything to specifically address the position of the ball of the foot. When ball of foot pain (forefoot pain) is the issue, if you want the best chance of getting effective treatment for your pain, you need to consider finding arch supports that are made specifically for relief of ball of foot symptoms.

Custom foot orthotics can be built with this in mind, but they are extremely expensive and involve the hassle of finding the right foot orthotics (arch supports) provider and getting assessed, then going back for a fitting. Note: if you are not assessed by a qualified individual, you are not getting a true custom arch supports, not matter what the advertisement says. Real custom arch supports or foot orthotics can NOT be done over the internet without an assessment by a qualified professional.

"Customized" arch supports are different than custom. These are over-the-counter products that can be made with different components to meet the needs of those with a specific condition or pain in a specific area, such as the ball of the foot. They can be ordered online.

Plain, garden variety, over the counter, non-customized arch supports are everywhere. They are cheap and not as effective as customized products. Some are nothing more than a layer of soft cushion under the feet and are unlikely to help a lot of conditions.

Alleviating ball of foot pain is more complicated than just supporting he arches. It requires arch supports designed with proper consideration of anatomy and biomechanics.

Shoes also play an important factor. Proper shoe stability and fitting is paramount. if you do not have an appropriately stable shoe that fits your foot properly, the joints and muscles and ligaments will have to adjust and make you prone to injury. In the case of ball of foot pain, the amount of room in the forefoot of the shoe appears to be directly proportional to the occurrence of ball of foot pain. Make sure there is enough room in the front part of your shoe to wiggle your toes. There should be a half inch of free space from the end of your toes to the end of the shoes...and no pointed toes should be worn.

If you have the right shoe, the right arch support for ball of foot pain also requires something that was designed by a qualified professional. The manufacturer has to be qualified as well, preferably an accredited pedorthic lab. The arch Supports / foot orthotics found at the right company will have been designed by practitioners with decades of combined experience in fitting and manufacture of both custom and over the counter products.. This is the kind of provider where you will find the best designs specifically made to alleviate ball of foot pain and most other foot issues.
