Back Pocket Handbook - The Htc Desire S Handset

The HTC Desire S is really a strong, slim phone made out of a single block of aluminium.

It has a 1GHz Snapdragon MSM8255 processor and uses the Android with HTC Sense platform. There is typically a five megapixel colour camera with auto focus and power LED flash and a VGA color fixed focus front digital camera for large definition video recording. It has a three.seven inch touch display with 480 x 800 resolution and weighs 137 grams. This Quad band phone has a battery which allows up to 590 minutes of talktime or 430 hours on standby.

The HTC Desire S arrives running Android 2.2 FroYo, but HTC are promising an upgrade to 2.three Gingerbread in the near future, presumably with its excellent Sense UI spread neatly over the top.

The Desire S (aka Desire 2) comes with an all new aluminium unibody design, an outfit that first built its debut on 2010's HTC Legend. With its slick metal finish the HTC Desire S feels much more premium than its older brother, and just as compact at 11.6mm thick. This might well not be on par with the super-skinny Galaxy S II or Xperia arc, but its weigtiness adds to its high-end, durable feel.

HTC has abandoned the physical keys of the original desire, which has been replaced getting a much-sleeker capacitive touch panel. The optical trackball has been given a miss too, and we can't say we particularly miss it.

So, while the original Desire sported pitch blacks and vivid contrasts, its bigger brother has to make do with what HTC call a Tremendous LCD show - kinder to batteries than regular LCD, but more power hungry and less vivd than AMOLED.

The digital camera is truly a standard 5MP snapper with auto focus and an LED flash. It also records video clip in the now-standard 720p HD. Furthermore, the post-iPhone 4 standard front facing digital camera also makes an appearance, for those into video clip calling.

The customer can also highlight text which can then be looked up on YouTube, Google, Wikipedia or dictionary. The HTC Desire S supports Wi-Fi connectivity allowing the customer to connect their Smartphone to a nearby wireless hub or even a hotspot connection might be gained when the consumer is out & about, which provides the customer getting a cable free Net searching experience. This Smartphone works over quad band GSM networks & 3G networks, plus the Desire S will automatically switch between networks to suit the user's connectivity requirements.

An integrated assisted GPS navigation system comes having a Google map exhibit allowing the person to view map directions to new location on their Smartphone. To connect to other devices a micro USB connection port on the Smartphone allows the consumer to connect a compatible cable & connect to others devices to exchange data.

A Bluetooth connection is genuinely a wireless connection between two compatible devices, & this connection allows the consumer to transfer data between the HTC Desire S & other devices which requires no cables, plus the two devices must be up to 10 metres apart during the transfer for this wireless connection to work.
