Most of the time we consider our back pain as the disease or ailment but it is a symptom of such ailment or disease that we are feeling. The usual common causes of such back problem involve diseases or injuries to the muscles, bone or the nerve of the spine. Usually the pain from the dysfunction organs such as pelvis, abdomen or chest can also be an attributed factor of feeling any back problems as well. This is oftentimes referred to as referred pain. Some of the disorders in the abdomen such as kidney disease, aneurysms, appendicitis, bladder infections, kidney infection, ovarian disorder or pelvic infections and so forth are oftentimes causing pain which can be felt on the back. In most women, pregnancy can cause this problem in some many instances such as irritating nerves, lower back strains and stretch ligaments within the pelvic area and such.
In such instance, your doctor will evaluate you on what is the source of your back pain whether such was a result of an infection to the bone of the spine which is very much common in low back pains. There are instances when pain is felt because of cancerous and/or non-cancerous tumors, infection of the nerve or a musculoskeletal pain that produces low back pain which can also include myofascial pain syndrome and fibromyalgia. Depending on the outcome of the evaluation by your doctor, he can then prescribe you with medications or treatment to alleviate your pain, if not solve.
Some of the treatments that you can have are narcotic pain medications, muscle relaxers, physical therapy, epidural steroid injections and spine surgery among others. The narcotic pain medications are a good way in relieving pain however this may be a bit dangerous and addictive medication. The use of such medication must be under a close supervision at the same time may only be taken for only a limit time or period. Furthermore, there must also be a prescription from the doctor before one can be able to use such or otherwise prolonged use of such medication can be dangerous to your health. Another solution to a back pain problem is to use muscle relaxers. A muscle relaxing medications is very helpful in the treatment of back problem because it relives muscle spasms. Its side-effect is that it makes the patients drowsy. And lastly, is to have a physical therapy. Physical therapy can be very beneficial for someone with this problem because you get to exercise you back which is the most neglected part of our body. If such treatment does not work, combining such with other modalities such as aquatherapy, electrical stimulation or ultrasound and so forth can increase your chances of lessening or eliminating your back pain.
