Back Pain And Vitamin D

Back Pain And Vitamin D

By:

Chronic back pain is the kind where you keep going to doctors and they can't find any specific problem. None of the back pain remedies you have tried made any improvement. Nothing takes away that constant pain, you cant even get a good nights sleep and even the simplest things, like getting out of bed can seem impossible. It may be time for you back pain sufferers to get some vitamin D.

Vitamin D plays a major role in helping your body absorb calcium and phosphorus in your bones. This strengthens your bones and spine, reduces inflammation and increases muscle support. Very few foods contain vitamin D. Fish such as salmon, tuna and mackerel are among the best sources. Small amounts of vitamin D are found in beef liver, cheese and eggs. Vitamin D is also known as the "sunshine vitamin" because the body manufactures the vitamin after being exposed to sunshine. However even people living in sunny climates still do not make enough vitamin D and need more from their diet or supplementation. It is also important to limit sun exposure to reduce the risk of skin cancer.

This doesnt mean that you can just take a few vitamin D supplements and your back pain will be gone, but as part of trying to find the optimum back pain remedy it is probably a good idea to have your vitamin D level checked.

This is not a quick fix. It may take a while but having adequate vitamin D has many advantages to you complete well being. Enhanced nerve functioning, strengthening of bones and muscles and reducing inflammation to name a few. Vitamin D one of the most important nutrients, an important contributor to long term health.
