Needless to say--we need to eat a healthy diet if we want to enjoy healthy retirement years. Regular trips to the doctors office to treat diabetes and heart disease can be halted to a great extent if you eat right. The worst part is that if you do not eat healthy, it is nearly impossible to help your child eat healthy, because your child will only imitate your eating habits. Honestly, many health problems in babies occur due to unhealthy eating habits.

As a matter of fact, one of the main components of learning how to raise healthy children is learning to feed them a healthy diet. Interesting studies have been done that show indigenous and native people of various locations who stick to their native diet, whether it be fish, vegetables, or fruit and grains, are much healthier than their modern counterparts who eat a "western" or modern diet, which includes large amounts of sugar and processed foods.

Believe it or not, the modern American diet stands as a major cause for the increase of disease in America today. Our country provides large sums of money for research to find a cure for many diseases, yet our diet, which is full of fats, sugar, and processed foods actually contribute to the very diseases that we are trying to prevent.

In the 1930's, Dr. Andrew Price conducted research to determine why modern civilizations are often inflicted with cavities and other dental issues. During his studies, Dr. Price visited Australian aborigines, Eskimos, New Zealand's Maori people, Gaelics in Scotland, and many other cultures that were considered to be primitive. In these cultures, barely anyone had cavities or other dental problems! The point I want to make here is--children need to be on a diet as close to nature as possible, which means no white flour, processed foods, or other modernized food sources. Healthy food for children should help in the overall growth of your child during the crucial years of growth. Children experience periods of rapid growth, which means their organs, joints, facial features, and bones remain in the forming stage for many years. This is where the whole aspect of nutrition plays its part.

In fact, as parents, we have the responsibility for maintaining a balanced and healthy diet for our children. A healthy diet is not only to help their growth, but also to prevent childhood obesity. You need to ensure that your child consumes the kind of foods that will provide nutrition and help maintain a healthy weight. Some of the healthy foods to include in your childs diet are--vegetables, grass-fed meats, seafood, and dairy products from grass-fed animals, fish, grass-fed poultry, and organs from land animals. Also, the consumption of refined sugar and saturated fats should be controlled if you want to ensure your childs health.
