Each mother and father needs to decide when their child is born whether they should use disposable diapers or reusable diapers. Each type of diaper has its own respective pros and cons. Apparently, recent findings have implied that commonly-held assumptions about the contrasts between disposable and reusable diapers may be ficticious or confusing.

There are plenty of decisions to make when you're about to have a child. Many of us wonder what's going to be best for our children regarding raising them. Should I breast feed or use a bottle? Should we allow our baby to sleep in a crib or bassinet? Should our baby wear cloth diapers or disposable diapers?

Research has been carried out about the merits of both the disposable diaper and cloth baby diapers for years, and will probably continue into the future. Both diapers have their strengths and weaknesses. Your first choice is between cloth baby diapers and the disposable diaper. The bottom line, pardon the pun, is that it is an issue of personal preference. Some issues to be concerned about when determining are comfort, fit, absorbency, ease of applyiing and expense.

Disposable diapers can be applied whereever and whenever without having to worry about finding a washing machine to clean soiled cloth diapers! Also, once your child has dirtied their diaper and needs to be changed, just take the mucky diaper off, (after changing them, of course), and throw it out. No smelly diaper to walk about with!

Then again, you could want to diaper your child using simply cloth diapers, with no covers. If so there really isn't much of a variation in price. In reality, it can be less expensive if you're going to use a diaper service or home laundering. Although, diapering your baby without using diaper covers is dangerous due to possible leaking. All disposable diapers on sale nowadays have good absorbency qualities, and all can hold more liquid than required during the average time that your baby will use one diaper. Compared to cloth baby diapers, disposables feel drier when wet, leak less and are a better fit. There are basic similarities between disposables, but they vary in shape, fit and absorbency from one manufacturer to another.

Nonetheless, there are a number of downsides to disposable diapers. The environment has suffered with the rubbish that is put in landfills; in just the U.S. there are in excess of 20 billion diapers being disposed every year. Also the manufacture of these diapers is not that friendly to mother earth due to the plastics, papers and other chemicals being introduced to the once green earth. Additionally, disposable diapers are known to make babies experience rashes and some other kind of skin irritation from the harsh chemicals located and used in producing the diapers. The odor that these diapers will produce is worse than the ones emitted by a cloth diaper. Finally, you should not forget the outlay of a supply of baby diapers. A complete week supply of large packages can cost a home around $15 up to $30.
