Baby Carriers - Which Are The Easiest To Use?

By:

A baby carrier is sort of like a little safe cocoon for your child that you can sling over your back, hang from your side, or put in front of you. If you are one of today's active moms and dads you will find that nothing beats the convenience of using a baby carrier when you go about your daily tasks and errands.

A lot of people prefer a baby carrier to a stationary baby seat or to a stroller because it keeps both of their hands free - and it is a lot easier to use. When you use a baby carrier you don't have to be as concerned if you want to take a hike or go jogging, take your baby upstairs or downstairs, or go shopping in the mall.

There are a lot of different types and models of carriers available and they are designed for different purposes. Although all baby carriers are designed to allow you to transport your baby safely and securely all the time, different types of carriers are more apropos to one age group or another.

But whether you choose a front, back, or a hip baby carrier, it should hold your baby firmly yet give your little one enough room to be comfortable.

Generally, one type of carrier is better for newborns while another accommodates toddlers over six months of age.

Baby Carriers Designed For Newborns Up to Six Months Old

If your child is less than 6 months old then you will probably want to buy one of the frameless front baby carriers. That's because a front carrier will give you total control and a frameless carrier is softer on a newborn's skin.

A Baby Carrier for Babies That Can Sit Up

If your baby can already sit up and weighs no more than fifty pounds then you may want to purchase a carrier that has a metal frame. This way you can take the carrier off and set it next to you when you sit down.

If You Suffer From Back Problems

If you have back problems and your baby is already mobile then you may want to get a back baby carrier with a five point harness. Because you will be carrying your baby on your back it will not be as physically stressful as carrying your baby on your chest or side. And the five point harness will help to more evenly distribute your baby's weight.

Some baby carriers come with storage compartments and/or canopies as well. One thing's for sure, though. Whether you're inside or out, a baby carrier will make going along for the ride more enjoyable for both your baby and yourself.
