Baby Boomers Need Renaming Name That Group Of Revolutionaries - Silver-ager

By:

What do we call the pension age Baby Boomers? Those born in the post 39-45 War world, generally defined as between 1946 and 1964. Millions and millions who by force of numbers and with the benefits of education and the post war boom conditions have been pressure group for over 50 years.

I for one am glad the term Baby Boomer stuck just think of being called 'Population Bulger' It could have happened!

That post war generation has sparked being renamed a few times over. Most prominently and global was teenager'.
Until the fifties young people went from school kids to young adults without rebel time. And they emulated adult dress. The new term teenager represented a new market, new hair styles,a new reality. Teenage singers & groups, dances, places films spread world wide. Being a teen-ager was, and still is, so trendy youngsters want to be teen-agers from 10 or 12 and do not want to stop being a teen-ager till after college, after first job, after?

That generation of agents of change is now getting to official\government retirement age. What are we to call them?
There are signs that the old attitudes and styles of retired people are not being followed by today's retiring families. They are still healthy, frisky, ready for anythingand lots have wealth to spend. Nintendo Brain Training is a product and the "Bucket List" is a film focusing on this healthy, vibrantgroup. Still 'teen' like in so many ways.

The marketing men have tried some names to represent the market focus but none of those names have taken hold. government agencies have names but they are often harsh and become disliked though un-aviodable.

Names and comments

Grey Panthers for the well off late middle age market

SKIers which stands for Spending the Kids Inheritance for those retired folk whose well educated children do not need the money from inheriting the family home

Elders an old term now often used in clinical ways such as elder-care or elder-abuse. Elders of the church is a honorary title not an age. Elders from legend with long beards are few today

Retired a fact for many but some are only semi-retired. For others not a term they welcome certainly not love
