Babies And Their Need For Sleep

By:

The more we are changing and growing the more we are going to need sleep. Someone who is working out every day is going to need a little more sleep than someone who is not, simply because they are going to need more muscle repair.

Babies are developing faster than any other person on the planet. Within the first year of your baby's life he is going to develop more and grow more than any other time.

During all this growing, it is no wonder why babies sleep so much. Every new born is going to need around 16 hours of sleep each day.

That may seem excessive, but if you think about how much energy these kids are spending trying to grow, walk, and learn to talk then you should realize that being a baby is going to require its rest periods. Within the first 12 months your baby is going to grow in height and his big head is going to get a lot heavier.

Physical changes are going to require a lot of energy for the young child, but during this period of their life they are spending most their energy trying to adapt and learn how to interact with life. Babies have ten times the neuron synapse that adults do; with that much brain power it is surprising they are not telekinetic.

A good example of how smart babies are, say for example you were dropped off on an alien planet where nobody spoke a lick of English or any human language you are aware of. Within a weak a baby would be able to differentiate between their native tongue and foreign languages.

Some of you won't even people to differentiate between Russian and Spanish. However, to a baby that is just an inherent ability.

That is a skill that is forgotten around the age of two years old. Thinking and brain power requires caloric burn and energy just like anything else.

With these little guys working their brains ten times harder than you are, you should expect they are going to need a lot of sleep. The interesting thing about sleep is that learning doesn't stop there.

In fact sleep is imperative for learning. Without sleep you couldn't learn or develop any new skills or information.

When a child sleeps, he is actually storing the data he learned throughout the day. Not only is he storing the data but he is also practicing it too, in his sleep!

REM dreams are thought to be a time when the brain actually tests hypothetical avenues and develops reaction skills not only in babies but in everybody. Slow waves dreams are when the brain will process the information it has learned and actually create muscle memory.

So it is no question at all, babies ought to spend most their time sleeping. But don't worry your child will be a toddler and causing a ruckus in no time.
