Avoiding Ticks While Out Hiking

If you are out camping with your family and you still want to get exercise, it's probably not a good idea to take a treadmill with you. Instead, why not try hiking to get good exercise?

Hiking can be a great way to get in a good cardiovascular workout. There are a lot of people that use hiking to stay healthy throughout the year and many people that use hiking as means of gaining muscle as well.

When you are going on hikes, you want to make sure that you understand how you are going to stay safe on the hike. This means that you will need to take the necessary precautions before you leave on the hike so that people know where you are and where you are going.

Throughout the hike, you should be sure that you stay on the trail and that you are cautious of any danger. Take time to develop these skills and learn some first aid skills so that you will be able to stay safe throughout all of your hikes.

You will also have to make sure that you know how you are going to avoid the bugs on the workout. There are a lot of people that do not realize that they will need to take some precautions to avoid ticks when they are out hiking.

Ticks will latch on to you and suck your blood. Not only will they suck your blood but they can also transmit diseases such as Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever, which means you really want to avoid ticks.

When you head out on your fitness hikes, you should be sure that you are wearing a hat. This way, if a tick falls on your head or even climbs on to your head, it will not have any flesh to latch on to and will keep on crawling.

You should be sure that you have long pants and a long-sleeved shirt. You want to have everything tucked in securely so that you do not have openings throughout your clothes that the tick could easily crawl into.

When you have exposed areas of your body, you should spray yourself with DEET. This is the spray that is going to repel the ticks, but your best bet is going to be to cover yourself with material and clothes so that you are not at any risk of ticks latching on.

When you are out hiking, you want to make sure that you are staying on marked trails. If you have the luxury of staying on groomed trails, you want to make sure that you stay on the groomed trails throughout your entire time on the trail.

This way, you will not be brushing up against plants that may have ticks on them. You should be sure that you understand how you are going to stay on the path and you want to plan to make sure that you are always on a trail or on a path.

When you finish your hike, you should search your entire body for ticks. Make sure that you are paying close attention to the warm spots on your body like your armpits, your groin and behind your ears.
