Avoiding drugs of many varieties is a must if you are pregnant. This means prescription drugs as well as any narcotics, barbiturate or other drug forms. In the following article, we will review drugs you definitely want to keep out of your system while pregnant and why you will want to do so.

For many drugs and alcohol as well, there is no amount that is good for the fetus. Any drug that is not prescribed to you by your doctor while you are pregnant should not be taken for any reason. Whatever substances you intake, your baby intakes as well. Whatever drugs you become addicted to while pregnant, your baby will be addicted to them as well. Alcohol and caffeine have both been proven in studies to cross the placenta. This is the same for any narcotics or barbiturates. Marijuana, which is a milder drug, is still no exception to this rule. Your baby would be effected by the THC in Marijuana the same as you are. Cocaine, LSD, psychedelic mushrooms and any other urban drugs are not good for your baby at any time in any amount. If you are pregnant, you must steer clear of these things. Prescription drugs are no better while you are pregnant, unless they are the prescription drugs that your doctor prescribed you after knowing you were pregnant. Xanax, Valium, Percoset, Oxicotin and any other prescription drug is hazardous to your baby's health. Any of these drugs will effect your child's natural cycles while they are in your womb. It may effect the sleep patterns of the child or many other adverse health effects. Any drugs you take in your late stages of pregnancy are even more harmful. Some drugs may even prevent labor or other serious side effects. When you are pregnant, you are caring for more than yourself. Whatever you put into your body, you are putting it into your baby's body as well. When you are pregnant, you will want to strive to intake the right vitamins, minerals and nutrients you need without clouding these things up with unnecessary drugs. If you plan to breastfeed, you should also avoid drug use at this time. Any drugs that you use while you are breastfeeding will be felt in your child as well.
