Women think that it is very easy to choose the right wrinkle cream to use. They just pick out a bottle based on their instinct whether it will be effective or not. Is this the right way of doing it? Many women who have done this made the wrong choice. They have either bought a product which does not work or has result to harmful side effects.



The ingredients play a big role when you start choosing your wrinkle cream. It dictates whether you have an effective product or not. Besides from this, it can tell if your product is safe for use or not. You might later regret it if you bought a product that causes harm to the skin. You can avoid it by checking the ingredients first before you buy.



The first ingredient that you should look for is mineral oil. This popular emollient is essential in cream-type products. When applied on the skin, it goes on like a film. It keeps the skin moisturized, preventing loss of moisture. At the same time, it hinders the breathability of the skin causing rashes and allergies due to the dirt trapped in the pores.



In every wrinkle cream, there is a preservative added to prolong the storage life. The most common ingredient used for this purpose are parabens. Because these are very cheap products, manufacturing companies use this. What you do not know is that this can cause skin cancer and other irritations on the skin.



Ethoxylated Surfactants are commonly used as emulsifiers or foaming agents in beauty products. One of its by-products are dioxanes which is very harmful for the human body. Even the state of California has banned dioxane use in different products. Research shows that dioxane is a potent carcinogen that must be avoided. If you see any of the two ingredients in your wrinkle cream, you may have to think twice about it.



Fragrance is used in cosmetic products to make it more pleasing to use. What most women do not know is that it can harm the skin. There are some chemicals used in synthetic fragrances that can cause skin irritations. Always be careful when buying scented products as it may actually be harmful on the skin.



There are two types of alcohols used in wrinkle cream -synthetic and natural alcohols. Synthetic alcohol are often found in liquid form. Examples would include isopropyl alcohol and ethanols. Natural alcohol on the other hand, can be bought as wax and are available as cetearyl or stearyl alcohol. Synthetic alcohols must be avoided as it can cause dryness of the skin. Go with the natural because it is definitely safer.



Beware of these harmful ingredients in wrinkle creams. If you must, you should try to look for natural ingredients that replace these. At least you will not have to worry about any side effects on your skin. Do not just buy a product that you think will work. You have to make sure that you have something that will work and at the same time be safe for the skin.
