But there are ways of finding the good folks out there before you even try and tackle the runway, commercial, or TV show.

At the very least, check to see that the agency is fully licensed. Don't give any kind of registration fee up front. Study the kinds of clients your agency has worked with. If there are familiar names, that's a good sign the agency is on the level. "The House of Broken Glass," for example, is not a client you'll want to work for.

So there's all kinds of work, and you need to work out with your agency what kind of work will work best for you. Print or runway work might be best for some, while others seek the whirr of the TV cameras. Which are everywhere, it seems like.
