Available Options To Jet Ownership

Available Options To Jet Ownership

By:

There are a number of people who dont realize that there are some options when it comes to owning a private jet charter. Sure, for the super rich or those that would want to just buy the plane outright, which is in all probability the best option for them. You own the jet charter, are responsible for the upkeep and hiring the crew and all the things that come along with it. Of course, you can always use an agency to take care of all that for you, which is the easiest option. Owning an aircraft is not the same as owning other modes of transportation.

One needs to have a specialized knowledge in order to make it work correctly. But sometimes companies and men and women do not want to tie up the resources all at once on an airplane, but they still need to use one quite a bit. It sometimes makes sense to charter a plane for flights, but if the usage of that aircraft increases, it can sometimes be financially beneficial to look at some of the other options.

Among the most popular options right now is joining with a charter organization and buying something that they call a flight card. For a specific investment, a certain amount of money, you're entitled to a specific amount of hours in the sky. You use the card much like a credit card. All of your information is in the database and you can always add hours of flight time as required to the card. Because you are buying the time ahead of time, and there is usually a minimum amount of time, there are some discounts involved and you do not necessarily pay over the counter prices.

An additional choice is to rent an aircraft, where the agency takes care of all the details for you but the aircraft is set aside for your usage. This might mean some downtime with the jet charter and when you're not using it, you are still paying for it. Another option that's much like rental is fractional ownership, which allows you to buy a portion of an aircraft.

With that portion of the jet charter, you're allotted a certain amount of hours of usage, much like a timeshare. While this method has lost popularity over the last couple of years, it's still an available option. All of these methods have certain benefits and certain drawbacks, but compared to having to fly on a commercial airline, they are all significantly superior.
