Australia And Argentina Signed In Work Agreement

By:

Canberra, AU - Last November 02, 2011, Australian Immigration Minister Chris Bowen and Argentine Ambassador to Australia Pedro Villagra signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the Work and Holiday visa at Parliament House in Canberra, which allows young Australians and Argentines to enjoy an extended holiday in each other's countries. Both countries will have a limit of 500 work and holiday visas annually.

Mr. Bowen said the agreement provided a unique opportunity for university-educated Australian and Argentine travelers aged between 18 and 30 years old to work and holiday in each other's country for up to 12 months.

Work and holiday agreements allow young people to immerse themselves in a new and different cultural experience while also fostering wider economic ties and dialogue between governments, according to Bowen. TheWork and Holiday Visa(Subclass 462) differs from aworking holiday visa.It requires the applicant to have the support of their government, hold or be studying for a tertiary qualification and to speak functional English.

Joining a number of other countries including Bangladesh, Chile, Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Thailand, Turkey and the United States, Argentina is the latest country to agree to a reciprocal work and holiday visa agreement with Australia.

Work and holiday agreements allow young people to immerse themselves in a new and different cultural experience while also fostering wider economic ties and dialogue between governments. These young people who can avail of the visa will surely enjoy this opportunity. This will further enhance them in many aspects, such as culture, language, education, tourism, employment, from both countries.

On the same vein, Argentine universities increasingly recognize the need for international agreements and twinning arrangements not only for the benefit of students and academic staff, but also in order to differentiate themselves from the increasing number of competitor universities in the market.

Argentine students tend to complete their undergraduate degrees in their country and consider international qualifications for postgraduate degrees as the re-validation process for an international professional degree (unless there is a validation agreement in place between the countries) can take 12 months or more and during that time, the student is unable to practice.

This move by the Australian government is indeed a great help to Argentine youth. Australia and Argentina are two countries with totally different cultures of different descent and influence. This will surely be a clash into a totally different atmosphere and environment.
