Audio Books On Cd Put The Fun Back In Education

By:

When I was in high school I had the good fortune of playing the lead in our schools production of Hamlet. The other day while I was reflecting on this I could not remember all of the lines of the famous "to be or not to be" soliloquy. I decided to search youtube and to my amazement I spent the next several hours downloading, watching and studying how the worlds greatest actors played the role. Within a matter of minutes I was comparing my performance to Richard Burton, Kevin Kline, Ethan Hawke, Sir Laurence Olivier, Kenneth Branagh and others. It was great education and fun. Now on my computer, ipod and
iphone I have that bit of dramatic prose at my disposal to access whenever I so choose.

While this story may seem trivial to many it shows you the power of the recorded word. Whether it is recorded in audio or video, people today are consuming their media in more than just text formats. This is why people interested in lifelong learning should harness the power of audio books on cd.

Over the past several years I have spent hours organizing my ipod to include all of my favorite music. It is a common ritual among people who own mp3 players. Over the last year I
started doing this with my library of audio books on cd. I have organized my favorite books, lectures and seminar presentations on my ipod so that I can listen and review them whenever I feel the need to.

I love to read. But reading requires my undivided attention to successfully focus on the written word. In today's faced paced environment that often is easier said than done. While I often try to read for about 45 minutes each day there are many days when I cannot find the time to do so. The problem with this is that it can often take more than several months to read through a bestseller. With audio books on cd I have trained myself to listen during what would be considered time dedicated to other ventures.

I recently took a time management course and discovered that I spend roughly 2 1/2 hours a day engaging in activities that permit me to listen to audio books on cd. I can now listen to my audio books on cd while driving my car, exercising, walking my dog and working on small errands around my house. That was an incredible realization to discover how much great literature I can consume. In a given month I can listen to
75 hours of great books. That works out to 900 hours per year!

Have you ever done an inventory of what you spend your time on every day?

I once heard a teacher say that with 200 hours of consistent study anyone can become an expert on the topic of their choice. Today there are tens of thousands of titles on every imaginable field recorded and compiled as audio books on cd. I recently started studying subjects that I did very poorly in at school. It has been fascinating to rekindle the imagination with possibilities that only understanding can bring about. I have also set goals for myself with regards to languages that I wish to learn and subjects that I want to excel in.

Audio books on cd have become my favorite form of learning. My headset and mp3 player accompany me everywhere I go making it so easy for me to enrich my life. Never has it been easier for anyone to learn. Take advantage of this glorious
opportunity.
