Audio And Video Improvements Come With Hi Def

By:

Our original big box televisions were very sufficient for most duties, connected with cable input, VCR and DVD players. Newer HDTV's have incredible increases in the audio and video projections, it's a whole new world. They also have more capability of upgrading to connecting to many other media sources. The original televisions only had so much capability to convey the picture and sound.

The sound and picture quality is the highest on a high def television. There are components out there who can bump up the picture and sound to take advantage of the high definition. Regular cable, even digital cable doesn't really push any limits on a HDTV.

The increase in picture and sound intensity is wonderful on the new technology. If you use a up converting DVD player you get closer to the true high def your HDTV is capable of. But there's still a ways to go for basic cable, it has to be a HD broadcast and connected to the TV with an HDMI cable. That's the only way to achieve the true HD look.

Next, for watching movies at home, you can still use that DVD player and get a pretty good quality picture out of it, but for a true high definition picture and sound, you must upgrade to a Blu-ray player. Blu-ray players have been around for a couple of years now and the play, you guessed it, Blu-rays.

Now what is the difference between a DVD and a Bu-ray disc? First off, Blu-Ray discs can hold about five times as much information on one disc. For an example you can think of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, all three movies plus extras could fit on one Blu-ray disc. That is a lot of information. Blu-rays also are more rugged and durable. They have a coating that helps keep them scratch resistant. The most important thing about Blu-ray though is the fact that it is the only way to get true 1080p high def. It is the best possible picture that you can get at home today.
