Audi A6 Technology Plays Defense For Drivers

By:

Audi strives to build cars that embody the design, performance and safety elements of the brand's extensive heritage, but they also aim to engineer cars meant to be driven and enjoyed on a daily basis. Beautiful, powerful, and sophisticated, Audi cars are a work of art, but still feature functional design elements and innovative technologies meant to assist the driver in real-life road conditions. California freeways today are full of distracted drivers, making them a dangerous place for everyone. With one in five drivers checking emails, phone messages, games, or texting, it is all too easy to find yourself in harm's way. Audi acknowledged this when they designed the 2012 Audi A6 and worked to provide drivers with features that help drivers safely maneuver today's roads.

Audi Side Assist
The Audi A6 features Audi Side Assist to help drivers monitor their blind spot more effectively. When the car is moving at speeds over 19mph, the Audi Side Assist program scans for vehicles within a range of 150 feet around your blind spot and warns drivers of their presence by illuminating an LED warning light on the side mirror.

Heads Up Head Unit
The Audi A6 helps keep our California drivers focused on the road ahead by making it easier to view the head unit while driving. The display is located just right of center within the driver's central vision. It is elevated to eye level so you never have to look down or over to access important traffic, navigation, or audio information as you are navigating the busy streets of Orange County.

Night Vision Assist
Audi incorporated innovative new night vision technology into the safety features of the 2012 Audi A6. Special sensors in the vehicle provide thermal imaging of pedestrians and objects ahead of the car. People can be sensed as far away as 300ft and certain objects can be detected up to 1,000ft away.

Audi Adaptive Cruise Control
The Audi A6 features Audi Adaptive Cruise Control which maintains a preset distance from the vehicle ahead. It adjusts to traffic conditions to slow or accelerate your vehicle automatically. It is even capable of bringing the car to a full stop if necessary.

Audi Pre Sense Plus
This unique safety feature from Audi keeps Orange County drivers more aware of potential hazards on the road. Utilizing sensors on the front, side, and rear of the car, the system provides a series of warnings if it senses an impending collision hazard. It also automatically prepares the car for an unavoidable collision by applying partial braking pressure and tensing seatbelts or applying full brake pressure in extreme conditions.

Audi works hard to keep our California drivers safe, and at Commonwealth Audi we encourage customers to learn more about the interactive safety features on the 2012 Audi A6 so they can drive more confidently as they travel the streets of Santa Ana and Orange County.
