Attractive Retail Merchandise Display Designs

By:

One of the most important aspects of a store set up is arranging attractive retail merchandise display designs. The layout of the store should provide adequate room to set up several eye catching displays throughout the store.

There are many different theories on how a store should be set up to best display the wares they are offering, but on a few points almost all experts agree. Using these suggestions to design a layout is a good start, but in the event that more detailed planning is needed there are professional design artists that specialize in retail layout design.

Keeping the most convenient, inexpensive and often forgotten merchandise near the cash registers is a great idea as it will increase impulse purchases. It is also providing good customer service by reminding the customers of items that they need but may have forgotten, such as batteries.

The layout of the store should be open, so that customers feel at ease walking around and browsing. Wide aisles are ideal if the space allows for them and items should be kept neatly in bins or arranged on pegs on the walls. The easier it is to locate and pick up an item the more likely it is that a customer will buy it. Most people are willing to pay a slightly higher price for something in a clean, well organized store.

Keeping the most popular items in the front of the store has benefits as well as risks. Most people do not have a great deal of time to browse the entire store, so if what they want is at the front they will seldom venture into the back. This is very convenient for the customers but can also cause a problem if the goal is to get people to circulate through the store. By placing the most popular items in the back of the store people will have to walk further to locate them and may just leave rather than take the time to look for the items they wanted.

Keeping the most expensive items under special locks is a cost saving idea as shrinkage will be less. It is still necessary, though, for people to know what it being offered. To ensure that customers are able to see and compare products that require additional security, many stores put in glass display cases.

Grouping items together by category is very helpful for many customers and can lead to increased sales. For instance, placing charcoal and lighter fluid next to the grills reminds the purchaser that they need to buy those things in order to use the grill, or reminds them that they may be running low on supplies.

Displaying merchandise attractively and correctly can have a definite positive impact on business sales. Historically, having a proper layout was a great way to boost the chances of success for a store. With the increased popularity of online purchasing, however, many stores are using less space for display and more space for storage and shipping.
