Attorney Resume: Blue-chip Pass For Potential Clients

By:

As we interact with our fellow human beings, we are bound to come in conflict with the law. It is quite understandable because no two persons share the same ideas and opinions on all things. There is going to be a point as well that your actions contradict with what you have long believed and based as a moral ground. Nobody is perfect and there is much more sense of imperfect when people are interacting with each other. Needless to say, if there is a case, it is going to be a field day for lawyers of the nation to turn in their attorney resume.

The jurisprudence of our country sits on two seemingly incongruous and queer rules. One is that a man is treated as innocent until proven otherwise. This is great because everybody is entitled to a day in court before he could be convicted for a day in prison. The second rule, though, is that ignorance of the law excuses no one. So it pays that you know some facets of the law. Remember that theoretically nobody is above the law and so it does not matter what your social disposition or public status is. When you come in conflict with the law, it is going to be hassling on your part but you got to deal with it. There is no way that you can turn your back on the laws of the land. The kicker here is that you do not need to know the laws yourself if you have a lawyer.

There are many legal professionals to choose from for your specific legal needs. Hence, these are some tips on how to find the most capable one for you:

1) Hire a legal hunter. If various industries have job hunters, the field of law has legal hunters. They are specialized professionals who will help you tap the best attorney.

2) Do not underestimate the power of attorney resume. Work-wise, lawyers are pretty much insecure professionals. They know that they are only as good as their last case. They know that there are lots of competitions around so they tend to put their best foot forward in their resumes.

3) Make further research. Do not just rely on what they say on their resumes. They tend to gloat on their achievements and underscore, if ever they mention at all, on their defeats. It is not so much that lawyers got defeated defending cases sometimes, but be sure to have an idea of the specific circumstance of the cases that they handled previously.

4) Talk to some of the advocates colleagues. The kind of character a certain lawyer has is also as important as his batting average. You will not want, of course, a lawyer who talks about your case in drinking bars.

The bottom line here is that you must be assured in full confidence of the past performance and character of your advocate. For the lawyers, they should try to go over their attorney resume if it needs some tweaking for the fact that it could be their blue-chip pass to sell themselves to potential clients.
