Attittude Of Gratitude And Halloween?

By:

Halloween is approaching and the surrounds are all decked out in decorations. It's Halloween at Ellis HQ too as I get my tots ready for their Halloween party at our Mother & Toddler group - guaranteed to be filled with laughter and way too much sugar! Thankfully it's early in the day so I can run it out of their systems before bedtime.

So the Halloween theme got me thinking about what Halloween is all about and the parallel it may have to your undercover escape! There are lots of strands of Halloween I could draw upon but for this blog I am just going to focus on just one strand - trick or treats. I know, cue raised eyebrows and click off ;) Bear with me, it is going somewhere of use!

Trick or treating, the time where kids get good stuff for knocking on your door and then go home and review all their goodies in their bag. So I thought well now is as good a time as any to reflect on where you are at in your life and on all the 'treats' that are in your life.

I know sometimes it may be difficult to see these especially when things are not the way you want them, yet! But you know that there are ALOT of things in your life that you are grateful for. I have found that when you are grateful on a regular basis, the universe seems to provide even more to you as it sees that you genuinely are thankful for the blessings in your life.

On the flip side some 'treats' can be very well disguised but sometime later they are revealed as a blessing in disguise and you are thankful to have had them. I recently have had quite a few of these, some were huge humdingers and I was hard pressed to see the silver lining or blessing element. However trust that there is always a blessing in everything that you have. Sometimes a challenging event/person/situation etc can hurt you but then lead you to a wonderful event/place/person/situation that would never have happened had that disguised blessing never happened.
Do you know what I mean?

So grab a piece of paper and take 5 minutes to list all the 'treats' that are in your life right now. To get you started, here are some ideas -you have a wonderful family, you're employed in an economy with a very high unemployment rate, you have great family and friends around you, you have your own home, you have your health, you have a few bob in the bank, you have an open mind and a positive attitude and so on. Each time you get stuck, push yourself to think of three more blessings. Keep going until you are all out.

Once you have your list of 'treats' drawn up, sit back and reread them- reflect on each one and feel the gratitude with every fibre in your body for each blessing you have listed.
By the end of this little exercise you should have a warm fuzzy feeling and have a great sense of gratitude for all that you have in your life.

Have a wonderful Halloween.
