Attic black mold is not something that you should ignore. It has the potential to cause many health problems and for this reason you should do all you can to eradicate it as soon as possible. Never allow any mold to take hold; especially black mold.

The technical name for black mold is Stachybotrys Chartaru; it is considered the most dangerous type of mold you can have. It has been described as slimy and having a blackish-greenish look. It can sometimes be hard to distinguish from other types of mold so it is wise to treat all molds as if it were this most dangerous type. Like other molds Stachybotrys Chartarum needs moisture and dead organic material to grow. You tend to find it on things like wood or cloth material. It survives by excreting an enzyme onto things like wood so as to break it down; it then absorbs what is produced. Black mold can do well once the temperature is above five degrees Celsius. Attic black mold is common because that area of the house often offers the idea conditions.

Attic black mold has the potential to cause many health problems. You dont even need to be in the attic to be affected by it. Spores from this mold can easily become airborne and begin causing all types of problems. If you are not aware that you have black mold then you and your family could be suffering with frequent bouts of sickness without even realizing why. Black mold has been linked with some serious health conditions. There seems to be a link between it and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome/Cot death. If it is toxic it can cause all types of unpleasant symptoms. It can trigger allergies and make asthma attacks more frequent. It can also lead to infections if people have a reduced immune system response.

As you can see, attic black mold is a dangerous foe. It is important to check regularly to make sure that this is not becoming a problem in your home. Look in your attic regularly; especially during the winter months. You should so all you can to prevent poor ventilation in your attic space and if there are any leaks you should fix these immediately. Remember that attic black mold needs dampness and if you can eradicate this dampness you can prevent problem ever occurring; it is always better to prevent rather than cure.
