Attending Flight Training School To Get Your Own Pilots License

Many people talk about freedom and the lack of it, saying that they wished they had greater freedom. There are many different types of freedom, however, and one of the best kinds is the feeling of freedom that you feel when you are flying high in the sky, on your own or with friends in an airplane that you are piloting. The feel of the wings responding to your command and the ground slipping by below at high speed is simply breathtaking. This is the world that is open to anyone who undergoes the requisite pilot training at an accredited flight training school and earns a pilots license.

While there are many reasons why people choose to obtain their pilots licenses, one of the most common reasons is simply the sheer exhilaration that you will feel when you are sitting in the cockpit of an airplane, with a birds eye view of the ground and everyone on it below you. That feeling is akin to nothing that you will ever feel elsewhere.

There are certain requirements that must be met before you can consider getting your pilots license. The most basic requirement is that of age, as all pilot trainees must be at least 16 years of age. This is the minimum required age for you to fly solo, which you will have to do as part of your practical training. The minimum required age for you to actually receive your private pilots license is 17.

You will also have to undergo a series of medical tests in order to certify that your body is fit to withstand the rigors of flight. Certain medical conditions such as chronic heart disease will disqualify a person from attending flight school, as these conditions are considered too dangerous for a pilot to have. There is always the danger that the pilot will become incapacitated while flying and the aircraft will plummet to the ground, killing not only the pilot but possibly innocent people below as well.

If you pass this basic threshold, however, then you are qualified to begin training to become a pilot. Training begins at flight school, and there are a number of accredited flight schools across the country that will turn you into a capable pilot. Choose your flight school with care, as there have been instances of uncertified flight schools tricking students into attending, and cheating those students out of their hard-earned money. A graduate from a flight school that has not been accredited will not be able to get a pilots license.

At the end of a course of theoretical and practical pilot training, Federal Aviation Authority tests will be administered and if you pass those tests, you will have become a true pilot. If you are contemplating becoming a pilot, you should be aware that the costs can be prohibitive for some people, and depending on your learning ability and the speed at which you master the flight training, earning your pilots license could cost you anywhere from $6,000 to $12,000.
