Review Summary

According to some, Accel is great for those Atkins dieters who are struggling on the weight loss plateau and long to move on.
Oddly enough, Accel is not featured on the Atkins website. And many retail sources list Accel as out of stock. It is not at all clear what consumers are supposed to take from this situation. If a supplement is not carried by its own company and it is out of stock everywhere else, is that a bad thing? It is hard to tell. So let us look at the ingredients formula for more decisive information.

Ingredients at a Glance

Information on Accels ingredients is not uniform. Various sources provide partial lists. As near as we can tell, Accel contains Green Tea, Caffeine, Yerba Mate, Brazilian Guarana, Theobroma Cacao Seed, Bladderwrack, DL-Phenylalanine, L-Tyrosine, Glucomannan, Chromium, and Niacin.

Ingredients in Focus

Green Tea, Caffeine, Yerba Mate, Guarana, and Theobroma are all able to function as stimulants and quasi-stimulants. In other words, they are employed in most diet supplements to enhance metabolism, get the blood flowing, increase oxygen, and generally make dieters feel energized.

Glucomannan is a bulk-forming fiber. It may provide relief of constipation as well as produce feelings of satiety. It may be able to lower blood cholesterol and the glycemic index as well.

Bladderwrack, a seaweed, is a good source of iodine and has been used in the past to treat goiter, which is a thyroid gland-related condition attributed to iodine deficiency. Because of this connection with the thyroid gland, Bladderwrack has been thought to stimulate the thyroid, which could increase metabolism.

L-Tyrosine is one of the amino acids used by cells to synthesize proteins. Tyrosine may be linked to dopamine as well as norepinephrine. In addition, it may also regulate thyroid, pituitary, and adrenal gland functions, which could have effects on appetite.

Pregnant or nursing women should not take this supplement. Those taking medication already should consult a physician.

Positives

-None.

Negatives

-Contains quite a few stimulants.

-Unavailable from every place that should carry it.

-Typical and unconvincing presentation.

Final Thoughts

Did someone hijack the reputable Atkins name and slap it on Accel? It sure seems like it. But even if this is not the case, we recommend shopping around for a different option. A proven fat burner combined with regular exercise and a sensible diet might be a better way to go than this nearly failed product.
