Scientifically, asthma is a chronic inflammation of the bronchial tubes that causes swelling and narrowing of airways which means the same in normal term where Asthma is the diseases affecting the airways that carry air to and from your lungs. This results into difficulty in breathing. Narrowing of the airways is usually either totally or at least partially reversible with treatment.

The inside walls of an asthmatics airways are swollen and inflamed. As inflammation caused the airways to become narrower, less air can pass through them, both to and from the lungs. The exact cause of asthma is not known, researchers thinks it is very rare diseases and develop in very few people. It is mainly because , certain people are born with the tendency to have asthma, or either it is hereditary , due to certain respiratory infection during childhood, contact with some airborne allergens or exposure to some viral infections in infancy or in early childhood when immune system is still developing.
Asthmatic people are on higher risk of asthmatic attack. The attack may come on suddenly or develop slowly over several days or hours. The main symptoms that signal an attack are as follow;

  • Wheezing- ( a hissing sound while breathing)

  • Breathlessness

  • Chest tightness

  • Coughing

  • Breathing problem

  • Difficulty in speaking.


Asthmatics usually experience these symptoms most frequently during the night and the early morning. During attack ones muscles around the airways tighten up narrowing the airways, less air is able to flow through airways, inflammation of the airways increase resulting into narrowing of airways and sometimes more muscle are produce in the airways undermining the flow of air even more. In some attack, the airways are blocked such as oxygen fails to enter the lungs and bloods stream, such kind of attack of may require urgent hospitalization.

Asthma can be kept into limit with the help of doctors prescription, but apart from this, there are also certain home remedies which can help curing this diseases such as follows;

Honey is the most common home remedy which helps curing asthma. It is believed that if a jug of honey is held below the nose of an asthmatic patient and if inhales the air that comes into contact with it and thus he starts breathing easier and deeper.

Lemon is another ingredient beneficial in the treatment of asthma. Juice of lemon dilute in a glass and taken with the meal will be resulting into good result.

Juice of bitter ground plants is considered one of the essential medicines use in the curing asthma since ancient times. A teaspoon of the root paste, mixed with an equal amount of honey or juice of holy basil leaves, taking once every night for a month, act as an excellent medicines for this diseases.

Using fresh ginger juice mixed with cup of fenugreek decoction and honey to taste acts as an excellent remedy to cure asthma

Garlic cloves, boiled in 30 ml of milk, make an excellent medicine for the early stage of asthma.

The asthma patient should follow other laws of nature; air, sun and water are great healing agent. By regularly exercising, breathing fresh air, an occasional enema, performing breathing exercise and correct posture can help curing diseases fast. The diet of asthmatic person should contain limited quantity of carbohydrates, fats and proteins which are acid forming food. He should include fresh fruit, green vegetable, sprouted seeds and grains in his diet.
