Asian Detox Methods - The Most Popular Asian Detox Methods

By:

Bathing is a relaxing and popular Asian detox method. A bather can use various additives in bath water to open skin pores and encourage body detox. A salt bath helps draw out toxins from the body. You can go swim in the ocean for a while if you do not have salt in your cupboard. This method works because sea salt has almost the same composition as human plasma, so it can draw toxins as well as help nutrients be absorbed. Essential herb oils like ginger, sage, and rosemary can be added to bath water for a detoxifying effect.

Body scrubs and skin brushing are also used in popular Asian detox methods. Salt can be rubbed directly on the skin. Salt can be combined with other aromatherapy oils too for added benefits. Other scrub ingredients can include clay, pumice, ground coffee, candlenuts, papaya, cucumbers, aloe, peppermint and eucalyptus leaves. There are also other ingredients such as astringent bases, cloves, coriander seeds, and turmeric. Fruits like papaya contain an enzyme that functions like alpha hydroxy acid. This exfoliates the skin without irritating it. Brushing the skin with a dry thick hair brush or a loofah sponge also exfoliates the skin. Exfoliation stimulates new cell growth by increasing circulation. It also removes old skin, softens skin generally, and opens pores for detox to occur.

Another very popular Asian detox method is massage. Massage can be combined with body scrubs and oils to improve circulation and help flush toxins from body tissues and lymph nodes. Various massage methods can hone in on specific areas where detox is desired, like Thai massage, reiki and reflexology.

Herbal wraps are a popular choice from all the various Asian detox methods. In this process, the body is wrapped in plastic sheets or cotton towels with mixtures of mud and toxin-drawing herbs for about 20 minutes. The mud and herbs draw out impurities from the body and helps clear up some blemishes and rashes. After showering or bathing to remove the mud, skin is soft and exfoliated. A perfect complement to any detox method or method to be used all by itself is drinking green tea. Teas are high in antioxidants that increase blood flow and hydrate the body. Most important, green teas help flush out toxins that have been dislodged and are circulating in the body after bathing, scrubs, brushing, and massage. Some people like to add fresh lemon, a popular cleansing agent, to green tea.
