Morning of Arrival

After spending the early morning hours sitting in your car or on the train, a stroll along Ashland Creek is a great way to get your circulation moving again. Visit the downtown area of the creek where it runs through the center of town, behind the shops and eateries of the downtown Plaza. There are loads of benches in the surrounding woods that look out on duck ponds and meadows. In the winter, there is an ice skating rink available at no cost.

Mid-Day

Visit the Standing Stone Brewing Company for lunch. It is the only full service brew pub in Ashland. You will find it at 101 Oak Street, Ashland OR 9752. The restaurant building was place on the National Historic Registry in 1996. The building exterior is the original fireproof outer shell. Originally used as industrial space and then as a garage, when the Micro-brewery and restaurant moved in, no effort was spared to keep the interior's industrial look. The original concrete floor is still there and I beams and industrial gear serve as decoration.

Afternoon Activities

In the mood for outdoor recreation. There are loads of hiking trails, biking trails, and seasonal outdoor activities. Crater Lake National Park is less than a two hour drive. Whatever the season, outdoor activities are abundant, and the lake view alone is worth the trip. Crater Lake was created by a volcano that later filled with water. Dinner

No need to rush to get ready for dinner. The Peerless Restaurant and Bar is right in your hotel. The restaurant received accolades fromWine Spectator magazine. The restaurant provides an elegant presentation of fine Pacific Northwest fare, accompanied by scrumptious deserts. As the menu is market is priced, dinner for two is about $110.00

Evening

The hotel is a short walk to the Ashland Theater District. Ashland is world-famous for being the home of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival- an annual multi-stage, multi-play festival of the Bards works. The 2011 season runs from Feb. 18, 2011 through Nov. 6, 2011 and the 2012 season will run run from Feb. 24 through Nov. 4. Ticket for two about $150.

In the event that the Shakespeare Festival is between seasons, don't despair, there are other great things to enjoy. One great alternative is the Oregon Cabaret Theater. Tickets per couple $70.00. Check the with the theater for current offering.
