There was a female artist who, as a child, loved drawing horses as much as she loved riding them. She has many years of experience as an artist and early training that eventually led her to a career involving painting horses and other subjects of the natural world. Everything from hens, horse, reindeer, to dogs can be seen in her pastel and watercolor paintings.

They were from Philadelphia and her family moved to the present county when she was 11. Her sister and mother painted as a hobby just like her father who was a commercial artist. For her father, real important to an artist is drawing. Those details are evident in the structure of the animals she paints.

Because she loves painting animals, she even expanded this to cover dogs and cats. Two dogs and a cat can be found in the present home she shares with her husband. Apart from this she paints pets for private commissions.

From the bright white of daylight to the darker amber hues of evening, light distinctly stands out in her paintings. Considering her paintings, she cares a lot about having a sense of light. This is the reason behind her preference for watercolor. When it comes to watercolor, what she has is a series of transparent washes going over paper. Through the paint, the white paper becomes vibrant. When it comes to oil paint, you create light in a different manner. Revealing light is a matter of painting everything around it.

When it comes to the use of watercolor, artists need to paint around the white. The process that follows the use of oil is painting in the dark shadows and then adding the light. Luminosity in oil paintings is a challenge this artist would like to take on at some point in her career. With her love for the impressionists, she says that some time spent for painting in oil would be appreciated.

Today, her inspiration is drawn from her move from the former town to the present location at the countryside. She explores the back roads and then takes photographs of old farmhouses and landscapes in the foothills. Most of the time, she worries about the old farmhouses that get torn down. When it comes to acknowledging and protecting the old houses, she feels the urgent need to paint them. What she adores is the historic architecture.

For this passionate artist, another endeavor is still life paintings. She makes subtle use of texture and detail rather than painting realistically or with a photographic style. Her paintings of pets usually focus as much on the animal's facial expressions as on the detail. As well as attending a known school of art, she also went to the Maryland institute college of art in Baltimore. What she did for much of her career was work as a nurse but she began painting professionally since age 25. In the ensuing years, she continued to build up her painting reputation most especially in the areas of portraits, pets, architectural subjects and florals. Once a week, she works as a nurse.
