Article Writing Is Essential To Increase Your Traffic

By:

Article writing is one of the older ways to increase traffic to your Web site. It is still used frequently and should definitely be part of your Internet marketing arsenal. After all, the reason it has been around for so long is that it works.

Article writing begins with finding keywords appropriate to the content you want. While this process can be automated somewhat, there has to be a human element in keyword selection. The most popular keywords are not necessarily the ones you want. You can bet that if there are thousands of searches a day on a given keyword, there are just as many marketers capitalizing on it.

Once you select your keywords, it's time to get on the research phase of article writing. While you may know a few things about the subject of a keyword, it's always in your best interest to find out more about your subject. All it takes is a quick Google search, and you should have sufficient information for several article writing projects on your subject.

Now we get to the actual article writing. Keyword usage is critical in writing your articles. The word you have selected should at the very least be present in the title and the first paragraph of your article. Beyond that, it depends on how aggressively you want to use keywords within certain limits.

In article writing, you usually will want to write articles of about 500 words apiece. The limit of keywords you can place in the article is 3%, which averages to about 15 times for 500 words. Anything beyond that, and you run the risk of the article being refused later.

An important consideration of article writing is that it should be informative. You want the reader to actually learn something from reading your article. The information in it should be relevant and laid out in an intelligible manner.

With that in mind, a major mistake some people make in article writing is that they don't make it engaging for the reader. Articles shouldn't just be a dry portrayal of facts and data. Use references to popular media, anecdotes and examples to make it more interesting. After all, you want them to make it to the end of the article where your link is at, right?

This brings up the resource box. In article writing, the resource box is where you place a link to the Web site that you're promoting. The importance of this is pretty obvious. This is where article writing serves the purpose of generating traffic to your Web site.

Now that you have researched your keywords, written your article and your resource box, there's one more step to article writing. It has to make it to the Internet. A lot of the time, people submit their articles to article directories. Other times, they will have specific pages on their Web site for articles. In the latter case, the link in the resource box will lead to the sales page.

These are the essential elements of article writing. There are several templates and how-to's on the subject, but with these instructions, you should be able to effectively write engaging articles.
