Article Marketing Tips: What If You Feel Like You've Run Out Of Writing Topics?

By:

When you do article marketing, the goal is to consistently write and submit articles on your topic each month. There comes a time in every article marketer's life when you begin to wonder if you've "said it all".

The idea of running out of writing topics is a rational fear--after all, aren't there are only so many slices you can cut a pie into?

I would like to give you some article marketing tips that will reframe your thinking. If you think about your topic in the right way, you can write indefinitely, without the fear of running out of writing topics.

How is that possible?

People in offline publishing (say, magazines for instance) do this all the time. They have a magazine on a specific topic, and every month they come up with new articles. They do this for years on end, never thinking that they've covered their topic exhaustively.

Take a look at a magazine rack--some of those magazines have been in publication for decades.

Here's a tip you can take from magazines--they set up "departments", which are sub-topics under which they write articles each month. The consistent sub-topics help direct the creation of article ideas--it helps the magazine be strategic in the way it generates article ideas.

You can do the same thing with your own article creation for article marketing. Think about your overall topic, and then break it down into sub-topics under which you can write articles each month. Then, use your sub-topics as a guide for your article creation each month.

You may not realize how "deep" you can go on your writing topics--just because you cover one aspect of your topic one time, it doesn't mean that you've written about it exhaustively. This about this:

1 - You can approach the same topic from a different angle and come up with a totally different article.

2 - You can also cover the same topic from the viewpoint of a beginner and a more advanced person in your niche, and create two different articles.

3 - You can also teach the same thing using different teaching techniques. You can use different examples, different emphasis, and different teaching methods. Your only limit is your creativity.

4 - You can cover the same topic and create a "Top 5" article and a "How To" article, and each article will be unique.

5 - No matter what your article is about, you can always "go deeper" on some aspect of what you've covered. Look back over the articles you've published in the past and focus in on one point that merits further explanation. Then, write an article that expounds on that point.

Think about a teacher giving a writing assignment to a class of 20 students. Each student gets the same assignment, but will the teacher end up with 20 papers that are exactly the same?

No! Because even with a very specific writing topic, there are endless ways to write about the topic.

When you get it into your head that there is a limit on the number of ways to cover your topic, then you put a limit on your creativity. Automatically you will start to struggle to come up with topics.

But when you see that it's possible to write on one topic endlessly, then your mind relaxes and your creativity flourishes. It's not just possible--people online and offline are actually writing on their specific topics on a monthly basis for years on end. If they can do it, so can you.

If you've been doing article marketing, do you have any tips to add regarding how to write on one topic over the long term?

What do you do when you think you've run out of new things to say in your articles?

Do you have any tips for thinking about your topic in a fresh way?
