Discover your arrest warrants and save yourself a lot of trouble and money

Have you ever checked yourself out to see if there are any arrest warrants on you? Most people will hardly ever give it a thought and you are probably one of those people.

One day you will get a call and standing there will be a cop ready to take you in to jail.

You'll go before a court who know that you were hunted down by the police. You may need time off work, more money than you want to part with in fines and a lot of upset.

Here are 3 methods that you can use to find out if you have warrants and save yourself unnecessary stress and expense.

You can have an active arrest warrant and not even know it

The hardest part about all this is that you may not even know that you've done anything that could get you a warrant. It could be a trivial parking fine that you've forgotten about or a traffic offence. Were you supposed to do some community service but forgot to go. You could have done the community service but forgotten to tell the court that it's been done. Someone could have taken your identity and done a crime while pretending to be you.

Mitigating the consequences of an arrest warrant

If you have an active arrest warrant then sooner or later you will most likely need to appear in front of a judge. You can't do much about that fact but if you discover that you have an outstanding arrest warrant before you get arrested for it then you can control what happens before you go to court. Consult a lawyer as soon as you learn that you have a warrant. He or she will be able to advise you what to do, where to go and exactly how to give yoursef up.

Simply doing this will show the court that you are trying hard to put things right and so will most likely treat you more lenient.

3 simple ways to find your active arrest warrants

All 3 of these methods are very simple but you should avoid the first one as it isn't recommended. My choice is method number 3 because it's easy, quick and just about as reliable as you are going to get.

1. Stop and ask a police officer - No please don't do this

Unless you want to get yourself arrested that is. Just find a police officer and ask him or her to check to see if there are any warrants out on you. The cop will do it for you quite happily but will also be quite happy to arrest you on the spot if a warrant is found. This is precisely what you don't want to happen because you've just lost your opportunity to prepare for and hand yourself in voluntarily.

2. Take a trip to the courthouse

If you know where you might have got a warrant then you can visit the local courthouse and just ask about any warrants. They should give you any details that they find and you are less likely to be arrested than if you asked a police officer.

The problem with this is that you must know where the warrant could have been issued before you go and ask. You could have warrants issued anywhere. This is more likely to happen in the event of criminal identity theft where your name and details have been stolen and an offence has been committed on the other side f the country. How can you find those warrants? There is a way so don't worry.

3. Search for arrest warrants in an online public records database

This method will not get you arrested and you have a good chance of finding any warrants that are issued outside of the state. You can search for arrest warrants online using a web site that maintains a database full of public records information. These databases are huge as they pull data from thousands of different sources and organize it to make it easy for you to search.

You don't have to worry about getting arrested when you use an online service to find your warrants because most of the better sites are completely confidential. No one will know that you've been searching and no one else will see the results so it's completely safe.

When you find a warrant - do something about it fast

Don't delay, get yourself a lawyer as soon as you find out about your warrant and arrange to deal with it before the cops come to get you.
