Are Your Chores Done? Wait Till Your Father (upline) Gets Home.

If you have ever had children (or been around them for any length of time), you have probably experienced the frustration of trying to get them to do what you want them to do. Sometimes, no matter what you try—threats, grounding, multiple time outs, rewards—they just don't seem to get it. If you have been in network marketing for any length of time and have had people join you in your business, then you know that this same frustration can spill over into adulthood.

The problem with the messy room. Some kids just refuse to clean up their room. Why? They just don't care how it looks (until, of course, they can't find something then they are yelling for help). Or, they just don't have the time. Or, which may be the most likely; it is just too much work. Network marketers can be the same way. They are disorganized, they can't tell you what they did with a set of leads, and they've lost the number for the next conference call, and so on. They were probably the kids that had messy rooms. The bottom line is no one can make you quit being messy. They can force you to clean up, encourage you to get organized, but, if it is not a priority the same mess will soon appear again.

Getting chores done. Kids should always have chores and most kids do. Many of us remember hearing a lot from our parents about getting our chores done. After several battles of the wills (that, as a kid, we almost always lost) the chores got done and we were grounded again. Why? Doing chores involves structure and again, work. Yes that absolutely nasty four letter word W O R K. Who wants to do the work when there are so many more interesting things out there? Doing something everyday requires discipline and again, you have to care. In this case, money or some other incentive will often help motivate kids and adults alike to get their "chores" for the day done, but making someone do their chores is difficult.

Just like when we were kids, there are consequences for certain actions. Having a messy room (or messy desk or messy computer) means that we lose things. As a kid, this may mean we lose our favorite toy. As adults, it may mean we lose money or opportunities because we have lost something important or we forget about something important because we didn't put it in the proper place. Not getting your chores done when you were a kid means a loss of your allowance or maybe some extra money for doing an exceptional job. As adults, it can very easily mean a loss of income not only for you, but for others in your business. Clean up your room and get your chores done and see how much better your business will run.

Let all your things have their places; let each part of your business have its time.Benjamin Franklin, Thirteen Virtues
