Having your drain plumbing become clogged is a frustrating matter that no one like to go through, but occasionally it happens to the best of us. The house may be immaculately kept up, but clogs can happen to anyone. The two most clogged areas are the sinks and the bathrooms.

A clogged sink is one thing, but a clogged bathroom is horrible, especially when nothing is working to fix it. Everyone at some point in their life has had to deal with this, and normally it happens from something foreign being put into the bathroom fixture.

When it comes to sinks, it is normally from food matter that finds it way down the plumbing into the sink past the drain. This is an everyday occurrence, and normally does well when your sink is equipped with a garbage disposal. But there are other types of drains more common that these found in our everyday homes.

If you have ever walked into a restaurant kitchen, or bathroom, or a retail store in the backroom, chances are there are a few of these covered areas built especially for water drainage, that are placed at certain low points and anywhere there is a chance of water being left standing that needs to go back into the water reclamation facilities.

Plumbers are the ones who normally keep these apparatuses in working order, and if something is wrong with this vessel for water then you would look to a plumber to fix your problem. Plumbers spend years perfecting their trade and are highly specialized in dealing with these matters.

While clogs are commonplace for any and all drains, with a little know-how you can unclog most drains if they do become clogged. But sometimes, it is more than just a clog that is the problem. And that is where the plumber comes into the picture to fix your pipes and plumbing needs.

The most common device to have in your household tool chest for draining issues would be the cheap and easily bought plunger, most small issues can be cured with this device. While it may take a little bit of back breaking labor to unplug the clog, it will save you quite a bit of money if you can do this job yourself.

The plunger itself works as a vacuum to clear the clog that is inside of your drains and pushes and pulls on the clog until it breaks loose and goes down completely. The plunger is designed for many drains, and even bathtub fixtures if hair and soap have clogged that vessel at the bottom of the tub. When unclogging the bathtub, try putting a wet rag around the pop up trap and then plunging.

While not every issue that deals with drains can be done with a plunger, you may find that more often than not any drain plumbing issue that is small can be dealt with and fixed with a plunger. For larger jobs that are not fixed with a plunger, their are tools, but they are not as easy to operate as the plunger.

When issues such as these arise, it is often better to call a specialist certified in drain plumbing that can fix your problem plumbing. Clogs do happen and frequently if unkempt drains are left to their own devices.
