By:

When you lose weight, you don't just lose fat. You lose a combination of body fat, water and muscle tissue. The human body does not lose weight at a regular speed.

Weight loss is dependent on a number of factors. These are:

- Weight
- Diet
- Lifestyle
- Physical activity
- Health
- Genes
- Metabolic Rate

The human body can slim down up to 20 pounds a week. But this is usually water and muscle loss. It can easily be regained once you get into normal eating habits. The maximum weight a healthy person can lose is about 3-4 pounds of fat per week. You are losing weight too fast if you are not adhering to these general guidelines.

A human body is not designed to shed unnatural weight but to endure. Our basic body structure has been designed to face all natural hazards. It works like a machine, which has different enduring factors up to a certain extent. So, your body will do anything to prevent you from losing weight too fast. If you reduce your weight drastically you can encounter some side effects. Below are some common effects of unhealthy fat loss.

- Appearance of loose skin: If you lose weight too fast your skin tends to become loose. Skin has the capacity to shrink according to your weight. So, most people go for skin surgeries like Abdominoplasty or tummy tucking.

- Fasting for a long period of time: If you fast for a prolonged period of time, it can lead to health problems. Fasting is good and there are proven fasting weight loss systems that you should follow.

- Diarrhea: If you attempt losing weight too fast, you can get diarrhea. Or sometimes you can also get constipation. If diarrhea extends for a long period of time, it can lead to dehydration, which can be life threatening.

- Detoxification diets: Do not go for excess detoxification diets to lose weight quicker. Detox diets are definitelly helpful in weight loss but adhere to proven detox guides.

- Rapid water loss: If you try to lose weight too fast, you take out a lot of water from your body. This can lead to rapid dehydration. It takes time for your body to burn calories and excess weight. If you try unproven unhealthy fat loss systems, you can cause significant damage to your body.

It is a good idea to have goals when embarking on a diet or working with an exercise program. However, try not to starve yourself or take weight loss pills in order to lose weight too fast and stick to your predetermined schedule. Listen to your body! It is better that, instead of forcing your body to shed pounds, you build up healthy eating habits supplemented with regular exercise.
