When remodeling your house, kitchen wall tiles are a fantastic choice for giving that room a stylish renovation. Thousands of designs and colors are available to select from. Floor tiles are often four inches square and are available in different price ranges. Spend some time to select the right design that will be appealing as well as functional.

There's a wide selection of tiles to select from when searching online. Often you can find a much better deal by ordering from an internet business instead of from a brick-and-mortar store. For starters you can think about the options 24 hours a day without any sales guys hovering over you.

The various kinds of kitchen wall tiles include glass tiles. These can be clear or tinted that will create a lovely shimmering result when put in. Bubble and frosted glass tiles give a distinctive personality to the overall design. Another type, glazed ceramic tiles are manufactured from clay with a baked on glaze which gives them a shiny appearance.

Different kinds of clay are used to make mosaic tiles, which are dyed with various pigments so the color runs throughout the tile. In the event the tile is damaged, it is difficult to detect due to the continuous color. Vinyl tiles are also available for those on a budget, but great maintenance ought to be taken with installation so they will not peel off and percolate.

It isn't uncommon for beginner do it yourself tile installers to install floor tiles instead of kitchen wall tiles. Tiles for a wall are usually sleeker than floor tiles and far slicker when soaked. Normally, ceramic tiles are much heavier to withstand visitors and home furniture. Wall tiles will be more fragile and slimmer.

The Porcelain Enamel Institute (PEI) made a scale to reflect strength and durability of a certain tile. Floor tiles generally have a PEI rating of 3 (residential floors) to 5 (industrial heavy traffic). Wall tiles are rated from 0 to 2. The PEI rating should be printed on the box or you may contact the tile company to find out that information.

Putting in kitchen wall tiles isn't as difficult as you might think. Begin by patching holes and cleaning the wall down. If doing a mosaic, set up the ceramic tiles with out mortar for a suitable pattern. You can cut tile with a wet saw to be sure it fits. When placed at the edge of the wall, cut tiles are less noticeable.

Spread a thin layer of mortar on the wall using a notched trowel for ridges. Position a tile on the wall and carefully press it in to the mortar. Put spacers between the tiles and be sure the floor tiles are level. Once the mortar dries, take away the spacers and work the grout in between the tiles. After 15 minutes use water and sponge to cleanse the tile. Stand back and admire your work!
