The Christmas season is fast approaching. Everyone on a tight budget is probably looking for holiday gifts under 10 dollars to get through the season without running out of money.

Here are some money-saving tips for cheap, homemade Christmas gifts you might consider.

Make a big batch of your homemade cookies. Put the cookies on a nice looking ornamental plate and use colored plastic covering over the entire present. Tie the top part up with a nice ribbon and make a large bow. Home-baked cookies are an enjoyable gift for everyone, and the ingredients aren't expensive.

If you like marmalade, why not give this as a present? Purchase a small wooden basket, and fill it with clear container full of homemade marmalade. Decorate it with thick laces and bows. Put the containers in the basket and decorate it with ribbon or wrap it with colored plastic and the covering at the top with thick colored ribbon. You can also put in a small pack of chocolates to go with the package.

Candles are a great gift for anyone, and are inexpensive as well. Purchase about a dozen small scented candles and one or two candle holders. Put the candles and candle holders in a small basket. Cover the basket with colored cellophane, and tie the package at the top with different color ribbons.

With the winter months nearing, giving your friends gloves and a hat set is also popular. These sets come in a myriad of colors, fabrics, and styles. Glove and hat sets are a welcome gift by your friends or family members, and are easy on the budget as well.

How about buying picture frames? For example, buy two each of a 3-1/2 by 5 inch; 4x5 inch in the center of the frame would greatly enhance its gift value.

Here is another frugal idea. Get a Christmas stocking and stuff it with items that most people need, but never buy. For example, nail clippers; nail polish remover; cotton balls; q-tips; hair shampoo sachets; hair conditioner; body or hand lotion; bath caps; bath get, etc.

Christmas isn't about buying the most expensive or nicest gifts. It is the thought that counts.
