Are You Depressed? You Need To Do This Right Away!

By:

Are you depressed? If so, don't feel alone. It happens to millions of people around the world. The thing that really sucks about being depressed is that, with all of our advanced medicines, we still haven't come up with a proven cure for depression. There's a reason for this situation too. Read on.

The biggest problem that doctor's face with finding a cure are that there are a lot of different types of depression to deal with and of these, some have their own special symptoms that have to be dealt with. This is why some doctor's will give you several different medications to try to help you. You might be suffering from many symptoms and they would have to give you a different medication for each of your symptoms. Example, you could be suffering from insomnia, depression and anxiety (Insomnia is inability to sleep). In this case, the doctor might give you an antidepressant medication like Zoloft, something to help your panic attack symptoms like Busbar and possibly Trazadone in order to help you sleep. This is all hypothetical, but comes from unique experience.

The real problem with antidepressant drugs is that, in many instances, they only relieve the symptoms of depression about 70% of the time and of that, only partially. There are several people that need to "try" several different medicines before they either find one that helps or choose to try something completely different, such as professional therapy. The problem with these drugs is that it takes three to four weeks for them to get fully adapted into your system. Only after this time has passed will you know if they are helping or not. After this time frame has passed you may decide to try another medication and the process starts all over again. Whatever you do, never, ever stop taking your medications without contacting your doctor first. This can be potentially very dangerous in some cases.

Other issues with antidepressants are the side effects. These are always so much fun to deal with. Constipation, nervousness, diarrhea, insomnia, fatigue and more. Isn't it so ironic that some of the side effects are things that you might have gone to the doctor to be seen for in the first place?

There are several other types of depression that are very serious such as Clinical depression or Manic (Bipolar) depression. People that have these forms of depression suffer from an entire array of symptoms such as violent mood swings, inability to sustain a normal relationship with family and friends, suicidal thoughts and more.

Manic depressives have also been known to perform self mutilation, cutting themselves all over their arms and legs. Not serious enough to be life threatening normally, but enough to leave bad scarring and cause themselves awful pain.

Depression is a terrible disorder that has become more and more common in this day and age. If you or some one you know suffer from serious depression for more than 2 weeks, you should seek medical assistance and find out your best options. Good luck to you.
