Are You Conscious Of The Amount Of Water You Use

By:

Do you think of yourself as a water conscious person? Most of us try to tell ourselves that we are, but if you were to really look at the way you run water you might be surprised. If you have small children you might find out that you waste more than you realize. Every time you turn your faucet on and let the water run down the pipe without using any of it, you are wasting water. In some states this practice of water waste is not allowed. You have some states where the water supply is just too low because of so many years of drought conditions and waste as well.

In these states there are often bans in place and if you break them, you will be fined. Some of these fines can be very costly and could result in losing your rights to the water. If this happens you will have to start buying a lot of bottled water and this can really become a big problem really fast. If you have a ban in your area, you could plan ahead by going and stocking up on bottled water to use for many of your daily needs. You will need to use most of this water for drinking and cooking.

You city officials will keep tabs on the cities water usage and they will do daily checks on the water levels. They might even put schedules on the days you water your yard or how often you can wash your clothes. If this drought is really bad ,you will not be able to water your yard at all to help save more water for everything else. Some of these bans stay in place for months, but are less restrictive. As long as the state that has this ban in place does not receive enough rain, bans are will be a possibility.

It will be up to you to change the way you use water. Start by shutting off your water when you are not using. Do not let it continue to run constantly while you are doing your dishes. If you have two sinks try to fill both at the same time and use only this water until you are done with the job. Try wiping your car down with a wet towel often to prevent the need to more frequent washing. Catch rainwater when you can to use for plant watering. Install water saving faucets. Small savings add up over time and you will be surprised how much water you can do without when you stop wasting it.
