Are You Being Held Back?

Have you ever stopped and thought you were making little or no progress in life because you seem to be by and large making the same mistakes over and over which perhaps lower you self esteem.

The main cause of this is the inherent self-limiting beliefs you hold in your sub-conscious that were not born yesterday but have become deeply buried in there from your childhood. These self-limiting beliefs prevent you from getting what you want restricting your personal development.

In order to do something about them first of all you have to accept their existence, in order to do so you need to have the self confidence to know what they are.

Were you ever told, as a child, by your parents, kin folk or peer group that you could not do something because..... 'you were too young, too old, not educated, too tall, too small, too fat, too thin...' you get the idea.

Then there would be times when you actually tried something new and if you did not get immediate results you were met with almost derision from your peer group or even relatives.

Were you ever told to 'be quiet,' 'children should be seen and not heard', sit down and behave

Did you ever tell someone that you were going to try something new only for them to say 'You cannot do that because .......' You know what follows.

Today when faced with a new objective or a challenging situation your self confidence can be shattered by the memory of these self-limiting beliefs as the rise to the surface of your mind.

Do you ever find that when faced with a new set of circumstances your first reaction is a negative one, such as a reason or reasons why you can not do something.

These self-limiting beliefs usually come to the surface because you do not feel that you deserve the things that you want, in other words there is a conflict between your conscious and sub-conscious minds leading to low self esteem.

In one respect this is unfortunate as your sub-conscious mind is far stronger than your conscious mind, and your sub-conscious mind is the store locker of all your self-limiting beliefs and personal development.

Think about it, your sub-conscious mind is the power house that enables you to do the things you do day-to-day on autopilot, such as all of the physical things you have done over and over so that they are now an unconscious competence, that is done without thinking refected in your self image.

O.K. Having established and accepted that it is your sub-conscious that is preventing you from making progress toward your life goals, is there something that you can do about it?

Fortunately there is, in a nutshell all you have to do is to bring your conscious and sub-conscious minds into harmony with positive thinking, that sounds easy doesn't it?

Because the subconscious mind carries the instructions for all those tasks we do on autopilot it seems to be a difficult task to harmonize your two minds.

Recall a time when you have wanted something yet you mentally you held back, this is that conflict between the conscious and subconscious minds that causes this. Therefore to bring your two minds into harmony is going to take a positive action on your part

Do not blame the Law of Attraction deeming it to be a failure in your case. As you know the law works by returning to you what your dominant thought is. So let us say that you want to land a new job, but your sub-conscious because of all the negativity that has been fed to you since your birth is telling you that you are not worthy of landing the job, there is probably someone better than you going for interview, in fact you may as well go home as you stand no chance. Guess what - you do not get the job - Why? - What was the dominant thought in your mind.

You have to be careful when you say the law of attraction does not work, remember it works when producing negative as well as positive results, it is not a magic bullet.

The best way of removing your self-limiting belief structure which is reflected in building high self esteem is to set goals, unfortunately the vast majority of people do not know how to correctly set goals and that could include you even if you think you have set goals all of your life.

Let me ask you this, have you ever set a goal and not achieved it which can destroy your self confidence?
