To several people being single is the most unpleasant thing imaginable, to others it can be a whole new adventure. To be part of the singles group is quite common.
People can become singles in a number of ways; the loneliness can take place because perhaps a person has gone through a separation or sadly lost a partner earlier in their lives. They do not always want to open the wounds by letting someone into their life again. They arrive at being singles purely due to not wishing to find anyone.
There are seniors who have probably never married throughout their lives and are just single through the passing time , so they have remained single all the time and are now deemed as a member of the senior singles group.
Then there are people that are genuinely lonely and have searched for love but have never discovered it and so are classed also as single.
So, is it really that bad to belong to the singles group? This depends entirely on your personality, if you are outgoing and are not anxious to meet with new people then you will deal with your being alone position well. If however you are shy , and find it difficult to meet new people you might find it hard to agree with the single label that you seem to of been presented with.
There are many of occasions open to a single to get together with others , and you do not have to be the most extroverted person going either. You could be present at a local coffee morning held in a library or club; these are generally open to everyone. They are the ideal chance to meet new friends and you will probably find out many more singles present along with yourself.
If you are a single woman then how about considering a new hobby ? You could try knitting, sewing, assisting in a small shop or helping in a local library. There are numerous opportunities available and it is always rewarding to learn something new.
The same if you are a senior gentleman , there are plenty of new hobbies for you too, how about golf? Or you could take up Nordic walking if you are able , or again you could assist in a local store.
Becoming a senior singles need not be as frightening as you might first think; it can open up new avenues for you that you probably would not considered taking if you had a partner.
There are some lovely coach tours on hand that visit some delightful locations; many of the people on the tours are seniors that find out the pleasure of travelling away from the area for the day. Just escaping from daily life and being in the company of others in a similar situation is like a breath of fresh air to most
senior singles .
If you are feeling extra adventurous why not take a coaching holiday? There are many travel companies specialising in holidays especially catered for senior singles, just simple sightseeing holidays nothing too exhilarating. They give you the opportunity to break away on your own though , and can offer a welcomed confidence boost for the
senior singles .
