Are There Ways To Make Your Relationships Better?

By:

That is one question that keeps our mind wondering if it is answerable. I cannot help but keep on asking myself about it as well. Are there really ways to make relationships we make with other people better?

For parents, the love for their children is always described as unconditional. What does that simply mean? Would there be any simpler explanation for it? A parent always tells his/her children that they will never understand or feel what a parent is saying unless they become one. There are many things that cannot be simply explained by words but by mere experiences. And from there comes the saying, "experience is the best teacher".

There are parents who are strict when it comes to the rules that they want to implement to their kids. They are thinking that they only want the best for their kids. The parents are trying to mold what their kids' future would be with the right kind of upbringing they are establishing. And some are lenient as they do not want their children to grow up feeling deprived and become risk-takers instead. They are thinking more of their children being free to do what they want yet being responsible for their actions.

But what could have gone wrong with those parent-child relationships that have gone astray? That, too, has several answers but no one has proven which reason is right. Probably what should be established further is communication. A child starts to keep secrets from his parents if he overestimates or underestimates his parents' reactions should he tells them his dilemmas. Fear is the main cause for it.

Practicing better communication can make things better for everyone involved for example: use subtle words, soft tone, control your temper, thinking first before talking and letting your children feel that you can be approached and that you are listening. Be patient to your child's emotional needs. Fear should not be his/her foremost emotion towards you, their parents, it should be respect. Respect as their parents, who can listen to them, understand and who can help them.

For superior-subordinate relationships, there should also be a sense of sensitivity to the needs of the employees that are waiting to be heard by the administration or the company. We cannot contest an employee being pro-administration as the administration is the decision-maker in a business. But we should also give consideration to the support of the businesses which are the subordinates or the associates.

For couples, husband and wives and even for friends, to have a better relationship with your partners or friends, one should listen when someone is talking, respect each other's decision, be truthful to yourself and to your partner or friend and always use communication to establish a common ground to understand different points of views and create a joint agreement. Learn to understand and forgive each other's flaws and say it in a nice way if your partner or friend has done something that you do not approve. Appreciate your partner and spend some time with each other.

For any kind of relationship, the things that are important in creating a profound and harmonious association are communication, good listening skills, thinking first before talking, finding time for your partner, colleague, friend or family to spend with them and demonstrate respect with one another. Practicing these would make a better start in your relationships and who knows, continuing it may even make it last longer.
